Variants of the FFThemtec 180° Design for steel components.

In reverse roller hemming, the hemming heads are guided by robots. These move along the metal sheets or panels and bend and hem the material.

The counter roller hemming head helps to carry out these steps in a precise and controlled manner to ensure that the end product has the correct dimensions and angles. It is typically used in the production of complex steel structures to create joints or reinforcements.

The process can involve several steps to achieve the desired angle or shape. For steel components, we therefore use 4 steps.

35°

This angle determines the alignment of the sheet to the rollers and influences how the sheet is picked up in the subsequent process.

80°

The first bending angle is the angle that the edge of the sheet reaches in the first bending step when it is hemmed inwards. This angle is usually smaller than the later final angle and prepares the sheet edge for further hemming.

135°

The second bending angle is the angle at which the sheet edge is bent around the roller or the hemming head. This angle is the most important and determines the final shape of the roller seam.

180°

The fine adjustment angle is the angle used in a final bending step to bend the sheet accurately and evenly. This angle is often very small and is used to fine-tune the hem geometry to ensure a perfect edge.

Version for aluminum components.

For aluminum components, 5 instead of 4 process steps are required to produce the hem when reverse roller hemming.

30°

This angle determines the alignment of the sheet to the rollers and influences how the sheet is picked up in the subsequent process.

60°

The first bending angle is the angle that the edge of the sheet reaches in the first bending step when it is hemmed inwards. This angle is usually smaller than the later final angle and prepares the edge of the sheet metal for further hemming.

90°

The additional hemming step prevents possible cracking of aluminum sheets.

135°

The third bending angle is the angle at which the sheet edge is bent around the roller or the hemming head. This angle is the most important and determines the final shape of the roller seam.

180°

The fine adjustment angle is the angle used in a final bending step to bend the sheet precisely and evenly. This angle is often very small and is used to fine-tune the hem geometry to ensure a perfect edge.
