A look behind the scenes at FFT – experience technology up close
Under the motto “A look behind the scenes,” FFT opened its doors to a group of interested visitors on November 10. A total of 25 participants took advantage of the opportunity to gain exciting insights into the world of intelligent automation and get to know the company personally at its headquarters in Fulda.
The afternoon began at 2 p.m. with a warm welcome and company presentation by Johannes Strott, Marketing Team Leader at FFT. Afterwards, trainee Lucas Niebeling sparked great interest with his vivid presentation “How does an industrial robot work and how does it optimize production processes?” He explained what makes an industrial robot, what tasks it performs in modern plants, and what tools are used for different applications.
Later in the afternoon, Petra Fröhlich-Bittner, Team Leader Training, presented the wide range of training and study opportunities available, giving guests an insight into career prospects at FFT.
A highlight of the program was the subsequent tour of the company, during which participants were able to experience state-of-the-art production systems and innovative automation solutions up close. Finally, the guests were given the opportunity to get involved themselves: under supervision, they were able to control a 6-axis cobot – an interactive experience that sparked enthusiasm among many. Everyone had the opportunity to pick up a promotional gift as a souvenir before the afternoon came to a close with snacks, drinks, and interesting conversations in a relaxed atmosphere.
The “Behind the Scenes” event not only offered exciting insights into the technology, but also showed how much value FFT places on training and promoting young talent. Currently, 150 young people are completing an apprenticeship or dual study program at the Fulda, Mücke, Eisenach, Schmalkalden, and Bremen locations. Cooperation with several universities – including Fulda University of Applied Sciences, DHGE Eisenach, DHBW Mosbach, TH Würzburg-Schweinfurt, THM Gießen, and HAW Hamburg – guarantees practical, high-quality training. The program is supplemented by training courses at the group's own BBZ Mitte, for example in robotics or additive manufacturing.
FFT was recently recognized by the Fulda Chamber of Industry and Commerce as a top training company and was also honored as the best training company in Hesse in the professions of production technologist and technical product designer (specializing in machine and plant design).
From trial internships to dual master's programs, FFT offers numerous entry-level and development opportunities in more than ten apprenticeship professions and over twenty dual study programs in the fields of automation, design, mechanics, electronics, robotics, IT, and business.
In addition to technical training, the company focuses on community and commitment: onboarding events, team-building activities, the annual graduation ceremony, and formats such as the TechTour promote cohesion. Another highlight is coming up in 2026: that's when the ROBOT MASTER CUP, initiated by FFT, will be held for the third time. This competition for schools gives young people a playful introduction to the world of robotics.
