Technology development

one step ahead. Developing new processes and technologies

New products, materials and manufacturing processes constantly require newly developed technologies. With our expertise in various production processes, we work with our customers and partners to develop such processes and then refine them in our large technology laboratory until they are ready for series production. Our goal is always to create intelligent, flexible and efficient processes or optimized products.

some examples Current topics and proven FFT developments

In addition to current future topics such as big data applications, data cloud analyses or AI applications, new manufacturing and material testing processes such as FibreTEC or BinPicking, as well as proven technology developments that have been used by customers for years, FFT can provide many references.

Wrapped carbon fiber profiles

FFTlightweight FibreTEC is a robot-guided technology process in which carbon fibers impregnated with resin are wrapped around structural components to form a high-strength structure after curing. FibreTEC itself is therefore a process similar to 3D printing. FFT has developed a standardized lightweight profile from this technology and also offers the production of customer-specific 3D components using this technology.

Detect anomalies with AI Data Cloud

FFT has officially joined the Snowflake Network as a partner and has developed its own application to transfer data from production systems to Snoflake's AI Data Cloud. This world's first interface to production systems extends the potential of Snowflake to the analysis of data from production systems. The aim is to make the process flow transparent, detect anomalies and increase efficiency.

In use since 2008

The original challenge was to weld sheet metal parts together in such a way that no spot weld is visible on one side despite the spot welding process. The FFTweldtecVarioPicker EVO is the result of this technological development and has been in use worldwide as a standard component since 2008.

BinPicking

In the classic "bin picking process", FFT has not only tested and tried out various commercially available systems, but has also developed a cost-effective in-house solution. With this camera system, we can use AI to quickly and reliably recognize and teach new components. With the training, we increase the accuracy of the system and at the same time shorten the cycle time compared to conventional systems.

Challenge: The perfect gap size

Every component is subject to certain tolerances, which must be compensated for in subsequent processes in order to achieve optimum results. FFTmetrology BestFit solves this task by using an individual weighting for each measuring point in relation to the nominal value of gap and transition. In this way, the tolerance characteristics can be targeted to specific regions and a definable mediating system can be achieved.
