FFT at the IIC 2025 in Chemnitz

IIC 2025 - Innovation in Digital Planning and Production took place in Chemnitz on 24 and 25 September. The leading specialist conference for digital factory and production planning and virtual commissioning once again attracted numerous experts from industry, research and software development this year.

Focus on digital twins and artificial intelligence

The two-day event focussed on the question of how digital twins are becoming increasingly powerful and efficient with the help of artificial intelligence. Visitors were able to experience and test the latest developments and applications from exhibitors directly on site.

Two keynote speeches opened the event days and offered inspiring insights into current trends and future technological developments. On the first day, Wladislaw Mitzel, Senior Solutions Architect (Alibaba Cloud), presented his keynote "Smart Factory of the Future - AI and Edge Computing with Alibaba Cloud". Alexander Meyer, Chief of Staff (NEURA Robotics), opened the second day with his keynote speech "Cognitive robots - moving AI to physical action", in which he provided exciting perspectives on the interaction between artificial intelligence and robotics. The programme was complemented by best-practice examples from the industry, a pitch session and an exciting excursion that offered practical insights into real production environments.

FFT as exhibitor on site

FFT was also represented as an exhibitor on both days. The team was able to hold numerous interesting discussions with trade visitors and partners.

A particular highlight was the joint presentation by Dominic Fink (Developer Workflow & Process Technology, FFT) and Steffen Heise (Head of Sales Automotive Linebuilder, Siemens) on the topic: "Creating digital synergies: How Siemens Xcelerator strengthens partnerships for IT/OT integration".

Software innovations and excursion

Another highlight was the presentation of the latest features of the ema Software Suite (imk) and the RF::Suite (EKS). The RF::Suite strengthens the production process through the intelligent use of state-of-the-art simulation tools, data analyses and training solutions.

The excursion to the Fraunhofer IWU Open House Day, where participants were given exclusive insights into the institute's test fields, was particularly popular. The guided tours provided a practical demonstration of how the potential of automation can be optimally utilised in modern production systems.

The supporting programme, which included a dinner in the panorama restaurant of the Congress Hotel Chemnitz and a visit to the Light Our Visions Festival in the European Capital of Culture 2025, offered excellent opportunities for networking. The event was a complete success!
