Research & development
We focus on various key areas of research. In addition to production and test systems, we also take a closer look at digitalization and simulation. Our focus is on the topics of smart factory, digital twin and IoT technologies.
As a global technology leader, FFT is involved in a large number of national and international research projects. These research projects form the basis for future, innovative technology and product developments. Through close cooperation with our industrial and academic partners, customers and suppliers, innovations can be implemented in line with market and demand requirements.

H2GIGA - GT 4.2 FERTIROB
FFT PS's H2Giga project is a leading initiative in hydrogen electrolysis production. With funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, we are developing automated technologies for gigawatt production. This project is part of the national hydrogen strategy, including the flagship initiatives H2Mare and TransHyDe. The demand for green hydrogen is increasing and H2Giga is working on the series production of efficient and economical electrolysers for the future
EKODA
The overall objective of the EKODA cooperation project is to close material cycles through efficient and economical dismantling and remanufacturing processes for automotive components. Derived from the overall objective of the alliance, the aim of FFT as a system integrator is to develop flexible (dis)assembly technologies for vehicle batteries, with a particular focus on the ecological impact and safety-relevant maturity of the technologies to be developed.
WISDOM
As part of the WISDOM project, the consortium is developing a hybrid platform for analyzing and validating highly dynamic control systems in aviation. The platform enables the testing of future systems for elongated wings, including intelligent functions such as active load reduction and flutter suppression. The project aims to evaluate the latest technologies in terms of their interaction and performance in order to promote the development of advanced solutions in the field of aeronautical control. The planned duration of the project is 2022-2025.

In addition to the research projects mentioned above, FFT has actively participated in numerous research projects and, together with partners, defined the foundations for innovations in various technology centers. By promoting the development of new solutions, the company is shaping the future of innovative technologies and products in various areas.
