Technology meets creativity: school competition at FFT inspires over 60 young inventors

Following last year's great success, FFT once again organized a school competition for technology enthusiasts from the region this year. The exciting final day took place on June 27 at the main site in Fulda - a complete success with over 70 participants from 17 teams.

The participating groups, consisting of two to five pupils, came from various schools in the area. Over a period of around 15 weeks, they had time to devote themselves to one of three creative technology tasks as part of school clubs.

There was a choice:

  • Card juggler - A Lego robot had to recognize and sort playing cards - a challenge that required precision and clever programming.
  • Long shot - The aim was to transport a table tennis ball over a long distance in the most creative way possible.
  • Ball transport - Here, balls not only had to be transported, but ideally also sorted by color and placed on storage platforms.

All tasks offered three different levels of difficulty so that teams could work individually according to their abilities.

On the final day at FFT, the teams set up their constructions from 12:30 pm, carried out final tests and finally presented their results to an expert jury.

In the end, the jury awarded prizes to six winning teams - two for each task: for the most technically challenging solution and for the best team performance. The award ceremony took place at around 3 pm. In addition to medals and certificates and a strictly limited edition backpack in the FFT design for the winners, all participants received a small gift in recognition of their achievement.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winning teams once again:

  • Card juggler
    • "Klausis" from the Rabanus-Maurus School
    • "Wigbots 1" from the Wigbert School
  • Long shot
    • "We couldn't think of a name" from Freiherr-vom Stein Schule
      "Robomonks" from Ulrich-von-Hutten Gymnasium
  • Ball transport
    • "BauSteinBuilder" from the Freiherr-vom Stein School
    • "Byte Busters" from the Rabanus-Maurus School

The young technicians were also well catered for: food and drink stands provided refreshments after the competition..

Torsten Trabert, one of the organizers of FFT, draws an all-round positive conclusion: "We were impressed by the students' creativity and technical skills. We are already looking forward to next year, when we would even like to organize the competition nationwide!"

A big thank you to all participants, supervisors and supporters - we look forward to next year!
