FFTmetrology CheckThrough Material defect detection with our transmitted light system

The transmitted light system is used for precise image processing to detect the smallest material defects such as cracks, the finest perforations and material tapering. The concept is based on stable and reproducible inspection conditions.

During the inspection, the component to be inspected is held flat and aligned as precisely as possible to ensure consistently high inspection quality. Illumination is provided by a homogeneous surface light from below, allowing even the smallest irregularities in the material to be visualised.

The entire test takes place inside a light tunnel. This controlled environment minimises external interferences such as extraneous light and ensures constant recording conditions. One or two commercially available industrial cameras are used to take the images, allowing perforations to be recognised quickly and reliably.

The system has already been extensively tested under laboratory conditions and a corresponding test setup is available. Wide-area lighting and a flexibly configurable enclosure for the test centre ensure outstanding stability and enable adaptation to different requirements.

FFTmetrology CheckThrough Process sequence of the transmitted light system

1. infiltration and measurement

The test specimen is transported to the transmitted light test via an automatic conveyor line. The test specimen is placed in the transmitted light unit by means of an automatic drawer. The transmitted light illumination is activated and the image is captured.

2. quality visualisation

Perforations and cracks are displayed on the screen. Even the smallest defect is clearly displayed in colour.

3. link with PLC

The results (IO, NiO) are sent to the PLC and stored in a database.

4. quality report

The software can be used to analyse the recorded results using various statistical methods.

Product world of FFTmetrology Other products in the field of image processing and sensor technology

FFTtesting eFlexMobile

Mobile test unit

With the FFTtesting eFlexMobile, modules or battery packs can be tested directly on the production line. The system enables a variety of electrical and functional tests (e.g. high voltage, insulation, load) and impresses with its modular design and high measurement accuracy.

FFTmetrology CheckThrough

Transmitted light testing

A transmitted light inspection is used to check whether components and features are correctly present and correctly assembled in order to detect faults at an early stage and prevent damage. The system uses 2D and 2.5D sensor technology to ensure a reliable quality inspection.

FFTmetrology ShapeScan

Quality control through optical 3D detection

Fast and precise recording of geometries and surfaces using laser scanners to control quality and processes. Examples include BeadControl and HemQC.

FFTmetrology Sensors

Image processing sensors

Our triangulation sensors and our double-head sensor measure gap and transition. Our surface sensor is used to measure round holes and rectangular holes. Our linear sensor is a stable and simple solution for distance measurement. Everything is connected with our hub.

FFTmetrology VisionView

FFTmetrology VisionView
Optical quality inspection of large-volume components

FFTmetrology VisionView offers fast, precise quality control of individual components through to entire car bodies in automated manufacturing processes. It is suitable for various features such as holes, surface points, distances, etc.

FFTmetrology BestFit

FFTmetrology BestFit
optimal component positioning

FFTmetrology BestFit calculates the ideal assembly position of a component relative to the component cutout. Both have individual tolerances, which are considered as important factors in the position calculation.

FFTtesting Battery Testing

Close-up view of an electric drivetrain or battery housing with visible cooling lines and technical components under a transparent cover.
Battery test systems for electromobility

Precise measurement of parameters such as voltage, current and power under various environmental conditions, including temperature, stress and pulse tests.

FFTweldtec Measuring Station

FFTweldtec Measuring Station
Measuring Station for welding guns

Professional calibration of servo-pneumatic and servo-motorised robot welding guns, including determination of the deflection of the electrode arm geometry using 3D measuring systems and logging.

FFTmetrology RGS

Robot Guiding System

The FFTmetrology RGS system is used to guide the robot to a calculated ideal position rather than to a teached position. For this purpose, 2D or 2.5D images are first captured and calculated.

FFTmetrology iPS

intelligent positioning system

It is determined the deviations of the vehicle bodies in just one station. The result can then be used for optimization in the following stations. The condition is that the body positioning in each station is the same and stable.

FFTmetrology BeadControl

FFTmetrology Bead Control
Intelligent Adhesive layering control

The FFTmetrology Bead Control scans the adhesive bead and precisely measures its position, width and height. The measurement takes place while the adhesive is being applied, thus avoiding a loss of cycle time.

FFTmetrology VisionCheckup

FFTmetrology VisionCheckup
Completeness check system

This system can be used to reliably check the placement of add-on elements and features, e.g. welding studs, holes, embossing, etc., so that missing or incorrectly placed parts are recognised immediately. It can be designed for 2D and 2.5D.

FFTmetrology Gap & Flush

FFTmetrology Gap-Flush
Measurement of gap and flush values

FFTmetrology Gap & Flush is an automatic robot-based solution for stable measurement of gap and flush values.

For this application, the FFT VG DH (laser triangulation using a dual-head sensor) is ideal.

FFTmetrology HemQC

FFTmetrology HemQC
